Weir to deliver greater uptime and extended equipment life in global oil and gas industry

Technology

Weir Oil & Gas has introduced Weir Edge, its newly-branded aftermarket services programme, at OTC 2018, running in Houston from 30 April – 3 May 2018

According to the leading upstream provider of pressure pumping and pressure control equipment and services in global oil and gas industry, the Weir Edge aims to extend equipment life and reduce total cost of ownership, providing a three-pronged offering:

· Engineers to diagnose the root cause of downtime

· Specialised field experts to provide repairs

· Strategically located service centres to offer support, parts, service and customer training.

Providing highly trained engineers who are specialists in their field offers a distinct advantage for oil and gas operators. Weir Edge’s experts look beyond acute problems with equipment to identify and address the cause, preventing future downtime and extending equipment life.

“Repairs can be performed at customer sites or at Weir Oil & Gas service centres located in every North American basin and across the globe. Field operations installation experts receive rigorous training to deliver equipment on time and ensure proper, safe installation. Weir Edge also provides aftermarket parts specifically designed for longer life compared to other OEM parts,” said the company.

Weir Edge focuses on delivering customised solutions that address each operator’s unique needs to maximise productivity.

“Operators need more than limited aftermarket solutions that focus solely on the symptoms while ignoring the source – more than a dispensary of parts and repairs,” said Bill Marshall, vice-president and general manager of the US Service Centres for Weir Oil & Gas.

The announcement is part of Weir’s participation in the 2018 Offshore Technology Conference at NRG Park.

Recently, Weir Oil & Gas introduced SPM radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and RFID mobile app to bring greater visibility and functionality to manage assets from the oil and gas fields across the globe.
