Technip has appointed Emerson Process Management as the main supplier of control valves to the Algiers Refinery’s rehabilitation and adaptation project in Algeria
The refinery, located 10km south of Algiers, is currently being revamped to increase its crude oil processing capacity and to ensure that it can produce petrol at specifications similar to those used throughout Europe.
Owned by Sonatrach, Algiers Refinery produces motor fuels and LPG for the local market, and exports naphtha and fuel oil.
Emerson Process Management will supply around 600 of its Fisher control valves and regulators that will be deployed throughout the refinery, including the residual fluid catalytic cracking unit, naphtha processing units and the LPG storage unit.
Pascal Marette, senior procurement manager at Technip, said, “Emerson’s team includes experts with experience of providing solutions to refinery applications.”
The modernisation of the instrumentation and control valves will help the refinery optimise the various process units. This will help to sustain the production of clean fuels both for the local and export markets, as well as reduce maintenance and plant shutdown costs.
