Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited has announced that it has awarded Subtech Qatar a number of subsea contracts worth US$40mn in total

The scope includes the laying of subsea cables, air diving, saturation diving, salvage, heavy lift and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) intervention. Most of these projects will utilise Mermaid’s DP2 barge — Mermaid Siam.

Subtech Qatar also recently established a specialised ROV division to promote the services to offshore oil and gas companies in the region.

Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, chief executive officer of Subtech Qatar, said, “The establishment of the subsea cable lay division represents the next step in the growth of our service offerings in the region given the growing demand Subtech has observed in this service area.

“Furthermore, Subtech’s establishment of a specialised ROV division will complement Mermaid’s existing ROV business by promoting our fleet of sixteen ROVs to the region.”

Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited owns 49 per cent of Subtech Qatar and 97 per cent right to profits in the latter with full operating and financial control.
