Technology

Ashtead Technology, an international subsea equipment specialist, has selected SPRINT-Nav systems from Sonardyne International Ltd, a move that aims to support Ashtead’s offshore oil and gas projects using ROVs and AUVs in water depths down to 4,000 metres

The multiple SPRINT-Nav systems are a range of Sonardyne’s acoustic and inertial navigation technology.

SPRINT-Nav aims to make optimal use of acoustic aiding from data sources including USBL, sparse LBL and DVL and pressure sensors to improve the accuracy, precision and reliability of subsea vehicle navigation.

Sonardyne’s SPRINT inertial and Syrinx Doppler technologies aim to enable marine robotic platforms to remain precisely on course, said the company.

Speaking about the order, Ross MacLeod, technical director of Ashtead Technology, said, with this investment, both the companies aim to expand footprints in subsea market, by offering the advanced technologies to provide a cost-effective and reliable solution to the client.

In the side of its global business, Ashtead Technology has strong operation base in the Middle East’s oil and gas sector. Recently, the company acquired Abu Dhabi-based TES Survey Equipment Services LLC to increase its operational activities in the region.
