RasGas first to deploy GE cloud solution for LNG sector

Technology

Qatar-based LNG producer RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has deployed GE’s Asset Performance Management (APM) solutions, created specifically to meet the needs of the LNG sector

The Qatar company is the first global LNG customer to leverage GE's cloud solution to enhance asset performance.

Powered by Predix, GE's cloud solution is based for industrial data and analytics, and designed to extend the life of RasGas assets. In addition, it will also lower operating costs through greater efficiencies and optimise product chain across RasGas assets.

The APM will capture and analyse the volume, velocity and variety of machine data within a highly secure, industrial-strength cloud environment. This will result in higher reliability of operation and optimal use of resources, said GE.

According to the company, the APM solution could help bridge a gap in the LNG industry as raw data remains isolated in different locations, making it hard to accumulate and integrate them.

RasGas CEO Fahad Mohammed Al Khater said, “At RasGas, we are continuously exploring opportunities to enhance our operational efficiency by leveraging the latest in technology innovation. The efficient utilisation of big data enables us to monitor our resources effectively and identify challenges even before their onset to drive growth.”
