Testing services provider Element said that Neal Ferguson, an expert engaged by the company took on his role as the vice chair of the American Petroleum Institute (API) subcommittee on Supply Chain Management (SC20)
The committee recently published the API standard 20L, a supply chain standard, for polymeric seal manufacturers.
Ferguson led a collaboration between 70 companies, including Shell, BP, BHGE, Schlumberger and TechnipFMC, to come up with the standard.
The API standard 20L specifies the requirements for the qualification of manufacturers of polymeric seals used in the petroleum and natural gas industries.
It also outlines quality requirements, testing and inspection requirements for polymeric seals including thermoplastics and thermosets.
