Canadian EPC contractor SNC-Lavalin has announced that it has won a five-year engineering consultancy and support services contract by Oryx GTL for its gas-to-liquids (GTL) complex at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar

Oryx GTL is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Sasol of South Africa, which own 51 per cent and 49 per cent stakes, respectively.

The deal was awarded to SNC’s local affiliate Qatar Kentz, which will provide engineering consultancy and support services at the site.

The agreement sets out predefined rates for a number of work elements that will be required at the facility, including general engineering, feasibility studies, modelling, drawings and documentation, SNC said in a statement.

Commenting on the deal to the press, SNC-Lavalin Oil & Gas president Christian Brown said that the company was delighted to establish this five-year agreement with Oryx GTL, at a time when the industry is looking for continued development of assets.

“This agreement positions SNC-Lavalin for success in achieving our vision of being an essential trusted partner to our clients, and we can quickly engage on many work fronts required on the project over the coming years,” said Christian Brown.
