Royal Dutch Shell has announced that it has been in talks to secure one million cubic metres of crude oil storage at the UAE port of Fujairah
Salem Khalil, technical adviser for Fujairah’s government, said that Shell could lease the space from tank operators that have been expanding their storage capacity.
The company was in talks with Vopak Horizon Fujairah, a terminal owned partly by Fujairah, Rotterdam-based Royal Vopak and Dubai-based Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC).
Nureddin Wefati, a Dubai-based spokesman for Shell, said, “Shell has had storage tanks in Fujairah for various products over the years and continues to do so.”
