The Saga Group continues to grow its product range, explains Kim Sadler, Saga PCE’s director for International Marketing & Operations

Saga Group commenced business in the prolific oil and gas province of East Kalimantan, Indonesia some 40 years ago, manufacturing primary cementing equipment. In 2000 Liner hanger equipment and services were developed and added to its product range, and in 2009 the group set up a regional office in Singapore to manage international marketing and distribution with satellite sales offices in Mexico, Brazil and Dubai.

In 2014 the company acquired the assets of Lancaster Flow Automation in Houston, a company manufacturing and supplying automated production chokes.

2016 saw Saga add inflatable casing packers to its product range.

Saga Indonesia formed a collaboration with Silver Fox, USA in 2019 under a licensing agreement to manufacture production packers in Indonesia in 2019.

Saga’s Indonesian manufacturing subsidiary PT Sagatrade Murni currently holds API 10D, API 5CT, API 11D1 & API Specification Q1 certifications. In 2011 PT Sagatrade Murni acquired a threading license from Voest Alpine, Austria to thread VA’s range of proprietary premium casing and tubing connections.

Sadler comments, “We have tried to be fairly strategic with our expansion over the years. Much of the growth has been logical and organic in that the new products we have developed and added to our range complement products that we already have, for example liner hangers and casing packers are threaded onto and connected to the same casing and liner strings that contain cementing accessories which we also manufacture. Similarly, production packers are typically set inside those same casing strings.

“A recent innovation from the Saga group include Lancaster Flow Automation’s recently released Vector inline choke valve which was developed to meet the growing demand for a lower cost yet still fully automated low torque adjustable choke.

“We remain focused on growing our customer base both internationally and domestically in Indonesia, while we continue to grow and enhance our product range. We also work closely with some clients to design and develop bespoke products to suit their specific needs."

Commenting on the company's participation in ADIPEC 2023, he adds, “Besides providing the opportunity to showcase our products and services, we find ADIPEC also provides a fantastic venue for us to catch up with business acquaintances both old and new, and it’s also a great opportunity for us to see the latest innovations in our industry. It’s the reason we have been exhibiting here at ADIPEC for many years.”
