New college to aid Kuwait oil and gas professionals

Honeywell, the global technology and manufacturing company, has inaugurated an automation education facility in Kuwait that will attempt to boost the technical skills of process industry professionals in the emir

The college, which Honeywell said would support the goals of the Kuwait government’s Vision 2035 initiative, will aim to deliver global training capabilities across a number of industrial sectors including oil and gas.

Honeywell Automation College will offer more than 300 courses focused on local power and water, oil and gas, and automation industries, educating Honeywell employees and customers – including chemical engineers, plant operators, maintenance technicians, process engineers and plant managers – on the key aspects of maintaining a safe, reliable and efficient plant.

“The opening of Honeywell Automation College underscores our strong commitment to becoming a key enabler of Kuwait’s advancement, safety, security and prosperity,” remarked Mohamed Afifi, automation college leader for EMEA at Honeywell Process Solutions.

“Over the years, we have made significant investments in developing our education and training capabilities in Kuwait, in order to provide those in the country with the opportunity to enhance their professional and vocational competencies. All of our courses provide trainees with the tools, knowledge and experience to make the most of Honeywell’s technologies.”

Training at the college will be complemented by e-learning and hands-on experience with process automation and safety solutions such as Honeywell Process Solutions’ Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) and Safety Manager.

Honeywell, who has claimed to operate the largest local automation support office in Kuwait, has worked with a number of leading Kuwaiti companies since entering the market in 1964, including Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and Kuwait Oil Tanker Company.
