Kuwait has appointed a new acting oil minister with Anas al-Saleh taking on the position in addition to his roles as finance minister and deputy prime minister
KUNA, the Kuwaiti state news agency, has not released any further details on the departure of outgoing oil minister, Ali al-Omair. However, Omair had recently been blocked in his attempts to change the management of the country's state oil companies. He has sinced been named as public works minister and minister of state for parliamentary affairs.
al-Saleh's appointment is not expected to herald any change in Kuwaiti oil policy, which is set by the Supreme Petroleum Council.
It has also been reported by KUNA that Ahmad Khaled al-Jassar, Kuwait's electricity, water and public works minister, has resigned with Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah al-Mubarak taking over in that position.
