The Kurdistan Region of Iraq has announced that the regions autonomous government wants to build an oil pipeline for exports to Turkey

Ashti Horami, minister for natural resources, said, "The region does not need permission from Baghdad to build its infrastructure, including in the oil sector, because the constitution permits so.

"The [region's] government preferred to work and coordinate with the central government in oil industry, but the centre does not want to cooperate, which made the mission very difficult," he added.

Horami disclosed that the region's government had signed 50 oil contracts to date.

"We are planning to increase our exports to one million barrels per day," he added.
