Industry

Iran has claimed it has begun producing gasoline from furnace oil for the first time in the Middle East

Alireza Zeighami, Iran's deputy oil minister, said, "Some 70,000 to 80,000 cubic metres of furnace oil is being turned into gasoline, liquefied gas, propylene, diesel, and kerosene per day at the Shazand Refinery."

Some 80,000 barrels of gasoline with octane number of above 95 was produced using furnace oil at the refinery, he was quoted as saying by the Islamic Republic News Agency

In October 2012, Zeighami had said that the country was then producing 25,000 cubic metres of premium gasoline per day, meeting Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards.
