Spanish industrial engineering company Tecnicas Reunidas has announced that it has won US$1bn contract to build a natural gas processing plant in Algeria
The company was chosen by a joint venture of GDF Suez of France and Sonatrach to design and build the facility with a capacity to produce 13mn cubic metres of the fuel a day.
Tecnicas Reunidas competed for the contract with UK-based Petrofac Limited and Japan’s JGC Corporation.
Algeria’s Touat gas field is estimated to hold 68.5bn cubic metres of natural gas and 8.5mn barrels of condensate.
