Saudi Aramco to build sour gas plant

Saudi Aramco has plans to build a new plant for sour gas at the al Fadhili oilfield, which is expected to have a processing capacity of 28mn standard cubic metres per day

According to Saudi Arabian Oil Ministry sources, Saudi Arabia has been taking steps in search of gas to boost production and meet rising domestic fuel demands.

The new plant will process gas from two fields — Khursaniyah and Hasbah, Reuters reported.

Sadad al Husseini, president of Husseini Energy, said, “A new onshore sour gas processing facility in the Fadhili and Khursaniyah area has the further advantage of opening up new opportunities to tap into the large undeveloped deep but sour gas reservoirs of Khursaniyah.”

The al Fadhili plant, which is scheduled to be operational in 2018, is expected to deliver 14mn standard cubic metres per day of gas to the market.
