Petrofac has signed US$50mn operations and maintenance agreement with Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) for two new gas facilities

The contract, for an initial period of three years, will see Petrofac deliver operations and maintenance at two new production facilities — Musandam Gas Plant in Bukha and Abu Tubul gas facility — on behalf of OOCEP, a subsidiary of Oman Oil.

The Musandam Gas Plant will comprise an onshore plant and utilities for receiving well fluids from offshore platforms in the West Bukha field.

The Abu Tubul onshore development facility will comprise multiple production wells, connected via a gathering and trunk line system to a gas processing plant.

Both production facilities are currently under construction.

Salim Al-Sibani, chief executive officer at OOCEP, said, “Musandam Gas Plant and the Abu Tubul onshore development facility are critical assets for developing Oman Oil’s oil and gas capability and we believe selecting Petrofac is an important first step in achieving our objectives.”

Petrofac will design and implement an operations management system to meet OOCEP requirements, and manage the initial transition from the commissioning to full operating phase, with an operations and maintenance team deployed across the two assets managed from Sharjah, according to company statement.

Bill Dunnett, managing director of Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations, said, “We look forward to working closely with OOCEP to help generate the optimum return, safely and efficiently, from these strategically important assets.”
