Mann Tek introduces LNG transfer solution for safer operation

Gas

The Swedish coupling manufacturer and supplier MannTek has launched a liquefied natural gas small-scale transfer system that aims to make safer and easier operation across the LNG industry

According to the company, the system is lighter and easier to handle and safer for operators than other existing system available. Mann Tek said that it is lighter, by up to 50 per cent, than any other LNG transfer system available today on the market.

In addition, it has also completed factory acceptance test (FAT) and is now being used on Sirius Shipping and the Anthony Veder Group’s LNG bunker vessel, the Coralius.

The system consists of Manntek’s Dry Cryogenic Couplings (DCC), Cryogenic break-away Couplings (CBC), LNG hoses, an Emergency Shut Down (ESD) aiming to providing an ESD signal to ship or shore ESD system and High Pressure Nitrogen System (HPN2).

Markus Bäckström, CEO of MannTek’s, said, “The lighter design makes for a more manoeuvrable design which, in turn, makes the role of the system’s operators easier, and more importantly, safer.”

Bäckström added, “We have taken the issues raised by our customers and engineered a solution that makes the system simpler and lighter to use thereby reducing risk to operators and the equipment.”

The system has also achieved a number of international standards and meets the requirements of a range of regulatory bodies including SIGTTO, SGMF, ISO, EN, Class approval with DNV, BV and Lloyds, said the company.

MannTek is recognised as one of the leading brands with regards to the engineering and manufacture of Cryogenic couplings.
