Jordan to launch tender for LNG supply

Gas

The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) announced that it would launch a tender for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the country

MEMR has been looking to import LNG to meet the increased demand for fuel required for power generation in Jordan and address the shortfalls and disruption in the supply of pipeline gas from Egypt.

The LNG import terminal in Aqaba will have an initial base-case send-out of 4.2mn cubic metres per day and is expected to commence operation late 2014.

Earlier, in February 2013, MEMR had selected Golar LNG Limited as the preferred bidder to supply a floating storage and regasification vessel (FSRU).

The vessel selected has a capacity of 4,530 cubic metres, and a send-out of 13.8mn cubic metres per day. The FSRU time charter party agreement is expected to be signed in May this year.
