Texas-based Caterpillar Oil and Gas has announced its new Cat G3516 TA gas engine, aiming to provide high fuel efficiency and low emission output for the customers
With a power rating of 1029 bkW at 1400 revolution per minute (rpm), the new product focuses on expanding Caterpillar’s gas compression product portfolio, said the company.
Commenting on the gas engine, Caterpillar noted, “The G3516 TA is designed and built on the proven reliability and durability of the G3500 engine platform. This is a stoichiometric engine that provides high fuel efficiency and low emissions output with customer supplied three-way catalyst.”
The product aims to meet 0.15 g/bhp per hour NOx emissions when configured with an appropriately sized customer supplied three-way catalyst, according to the company.
The G3516 TA utilises an engine management system which focuses on integrating speed control, air and fuel ratio control along with ignition and detonation controls into a complete engine management system.
In addition, the new gas engine can also be used in wellhead gas compression, pipeline compression, storage, gathering and re-injection, providing fuel economy, and performance flexibility with low operating costs.
Since the 1930s, Caterpillar has been manufacturing engines for the oilfield. Today, the company aims to provide premier power solutions with outputs from 31kw to 16,000kw. The sales and service network includes more than 2,100 dealer locations around the world, which support customers in the drilling, production, well service and gas compression segments.
