Kurdistan Region of Iraq invites bids for Nassiriya oilfield

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq has selected seven international oil companies to bid to develop its Nassiriya oilfield and build a refinery as part of plans to expand the countrys downstream operations

According to the Iraqi oil ministry, fourteen companies took part in the prequalification for the integrated development oil field and construction and operation of the new 300,000 bpd refinery.

The seven companies are: Zarubezhneft and Lukoil of Russia, CNPCI of China, Brown Energy of the US, Reliance Industries of India, Total of France and the Japanese JGC & Tonen General.

Iraq is expected to produce five to six million bpd of crude oil by 2015 against a current output of 3.4mn bpd, according to the ministry.
