The Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) has announced that drilling has commenced on 12 wells in the Kish Gas Field
Speaking at the ninth International Energy Exhibition in Kish Island, Alireza Qanei, head of the operational district at the IOOC, announced drilling had begun on 12 wells at the Kish Gas Field. Qanei estimated situ gas reserves of 1.7 trillion cu/m at the field, equivalent to six phases of the South Pars gas field reserves.
Qanei commented, "The onshore facilities for treatment of gas will not be pollutant and inconsistent with the environment.
"IOOC pursues a no-flare policy," he added.
According to Qanei, different scenarios have been designed for gas production and the most appropriate one will be chosen for development of the field after finalisation.
The IOOC said that depending on talks, gas extraction would be started as soon as possible.
