Compressor technology pioneer AERZEN will be at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi from 4-7 November to present its large portfolio of trend-setting blower and compressor solutions as well as its engineering expertise

A leading supplier of technical solutions for process gas applications, the innovation leader realises customised concepts with maximum efficiency, safety and economy. The credo: it’s not the machine that determines the process – it’s the process that determines the machine.

Air and process gas compressing or handling are required in all key industrial sectors – also in critical or demanding areas. The requirements for the blowers and compressors used are as varied as the applications themselves. As a competent and experienced partner to the process gas industry AERZEN knows exactly what the application-specific challenges are, and supports applications with sustainable state-of-the-art technologies, a wide range of services, the highest product quality, customised engineering and high-end technological solutions.

Hydrogen compression with screw compressors

For the compression of hydrogen in the low-pressure range, screw compressors are a sensible solution or supplement to high-pressure compressors. Due to their design-related internal compression without free inertia forces, screws are above all reliable and flexible endurance runners with very low maintenance intensity and comparatively low operating costs in full and partial load operation. The AERZEN range includes both oil-free (VRW series) and oil flooded (VMY series) versions and achieves top marks in the ranges of efficiency, installation space, economy and process reliability.

Green gas: AERZEN biogas solutions

Whether producing biomethane, feeding it into kilometre-long supply networks or pre-pressure generation for block-type thermal power stations: Suitable for the different required suction and final pressures and processes, AERZEN offers a customised portfolio of blowers and compressors specially developed for the biogas market . These include the oil-injected screw compressor series VMX and VMY. The packages are characterised by maximum energy efficiency, system availability and service-friendliness as well as a large variety of types and many modification options. They work reliably in operation 24 hours a day. A particular advantage is the TÜV-certified explosion pressure shock resistance up to 12 bar. This means that the machines are also approved for operation in processes with internal ATEX zone 1.

Oil-free process air for sensitive fields of application

AERZEN oil-free screw compressors are used where the quality of the conveying medium has a decisive influence on the production process. This is the case, for example, in chemical process technology, electronics and semiconductor production. The innovative compressed air technology developed by AERZEN is absolutely oil-free in accordance with ISO 8573-1, class 0 and guarantees 100% product purity. One example of customised engineering is the 2C G package based on the double-stage screw compressor series 2C, which was specially developed for handling and processing boil-off gas (BOG) in the shipping industry. The machines fulfil the safety requirements of DIN EN 1012-3 for flammable gases and guarantee maximum process safety.

Digital innovation

Integrating new blower and compressor technology into an existing plant requires precise planning and perfect engineering. Digital innovations such as virtual reality make this process easier and are a real game changer for retrofit projects. For years, AERZEN has been working closely with partners in the field of 3D laser measurement in system manufacture. Using ultra-modern scanning technology, the plant and its surroundings are captured from various perspectives without any gaps, generating a complete 3D representation in the highest resolution and with minimum tolerance. Thanks to the true-to-original visualisation, design engineers no longer work in an empty room when converting and modernising existing systems, but directly in the customer's original environment with all actual dimensions and full transparency. This ensures absolute planning and design reliability and leads to a considerable reduction in investment costs.

You will find AERZEN at ADIPEC 2024 in Hall 8, German Pavillion, Stand 8832.

Christopher Hudson, president of dmg events, discusses ADIPEC’s Maritime and Logistics offering

How will ADIPEC help to decarbonise the global maritime and logistics industries?

Today, all industries face a common challenge posed by the global energy trilemma, which is to support increased industrial productivity while reducing energy demand and emissions output. Recognising the importance of bringing together the wider global energy industry to accelerate efforts to resolve these complex issues, ADIPEC has made enabling the actions to overcome the new global energy trilemma a major focus of its 2024 edition. As such, ADIPEC 2024 will gather the entire wider energy ecosystem – spanning energy, technology, infrastructure, finance, government, utilities, construction, EPC, maritime and logistics, and more – to facilitate collaboration, share innovations, platform solutions and explore opportunities for decarbonisation, improved efficiency, reduced cost, and enhanced productivity.

The scale and significance of the global shipping sector specifically – it represents 90% of international trade while accounting for 3% of global CO2 emissions – shows the importance of ADIPEC’s Maritime and Logistics exhibition area. Maritime and logistics are an essential part of the global economy while also being a major consumer of energy and producer of emissions. With the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for global shipping by 2050, the sector has a big challenge ahead, which will be met in large part through new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) as well as low- and zero-emissions fuels like green hydrogen. By placing the ADIPEC Maritime and Logistics area beside our Decarbonisation and Digitalisation areas, we are facilitating the innovation and collaboration this large and central industry requires. Bringing together industry leaders, regulators and decision-makers from the global maritime and logistics supply chain, alongside leading technological experts, will help accelerate tangible, collective progress and advance global decarbonisation commitments and improve the competitiveness of companies operating in the space.

How is ADIPEC enabling the promotion of the latest innovations and technologies for the sector?

For the energy-intensive maritime and logistics sector, reducing energy consumption and emissions output in line with the 1.5C goal of the Paris Accords is no easy feat. It will require regulatory developments, new fuels, greater efficiency, better logistics and, crucially, integration of cutting-edge technologies like AI that can provide improvement in efficiency and more. By platforming companies that are advancing applications of technologies like AI, blockchain, machine learning, and the internet of things, ADIPEC is connecting those in the maritime and logistics sector to the innovators that can help them achieve enhanced performance, optimal efficiencies, and reduced emissions. The ADIPEC Maritime and Logistics area connects the people, organisations and resources needed to advance the sector and its goals.

The ADIPEC Marina Showcase will enable fleet and equipment owners to demonstrate their latest vessels, platforms and equipment, and how they are integrating cutting-edge technologies to achieve better performance and advance sector goals. This will enable visitors to learn about and be inspired by the latest products, technologies, innovations, and solutions that are driving the decarbonising and advancement of the maritime and logistics sectors. All of this shows the value of in-person events in their ability to enable product demonstrations and testing.

Can you share some highlights of the parallel Maritime & Logistics Conference?

The ADIPEC Maritime and Logistics Conference will convene pioneers, executives and regulators from the shipping world and beyond, fostering dialogues that drive cross-sector progress towards net zero, shaping the future of global supply chains and reinforcing a collective commitment to both people and the planet. Some of the topics of discussion at the conference will include the readiness of ports for an alternative energy future, balancing the urgency of infrastructure developments with the availability of new fuels, and the role of shipping in maintaining robust, sustainable global trade, particularly during geopolitical upheavals.

These topics will be explored by high-level speakers, including CEOs, ministers, policymakers, and technologists, all coming together with the common purpose of driving cross-sector progress towards net zero, shaping the future of global supply chains and reinforcing a collective commitment to both people and planet. By platforming visionaries on critical topics, the conference will harvest insights on the latest thinking, trends and solutions around reduced emissions, energy efficiencies and disruptive technology needed to advance the global maritime, logistics and shipping sectors.

As the largest energy gathering in the world, ADIPEC 2024 will host 184,000+ attendees, 16,500+ delegates and 2,200+ companies. See www.adipec.com
