Improving outlook for oil prices 

Oil prices rose after the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in its monthly oil market report for September that global oil demand grew “very strongly” year-on-year in the second quarter this year, which prompted the IEA to revise up its growth estimate to 1.6mn bpd for this year. Basra conference to discuss the opportunities available in the region in oil and gas sector 

Ahead of the international Basra Oil, Gas & Infrastructure Conference 2017, to be held from 30-31 October 2017, Ali Shadad Al Fares, chairman of the oil & gas committee at the Basra council, has highlighted the importance of the conference in accommodating the upcoming projects that plays major role in rebuilding Iraq. SABIC inaugurates PP pilot plant in the Netherlands 

SABIC, Saudi Arabia’s diversified manufacturing company, has inaugurated a new polypropylene (PP) pilot plant in Geleen, the Netherlands, and announced that it will further invest in building a state-of-the-art PP extrusion facility at the same location. Click here to read the full story.  

Baker Hughes receives deal for Egypt's Zohr gas field
