GEO 2016 to help tackle current market challenges

Event News

GEO, the Middle East Geoscience Conference & Exhibition in Bahrain, has a history of providing attendees with an outstanding platform to discover and experience new and exciting avenues for learning and growth

For GEO 2016, the conference promises to deliver a technical programme that will be more customised to current industry conditions than ever before.

The 12th edition will be held from 7–10 March in Bahrain and the theme for the 2016 conference will be ‘Today’s Geosciences, Tomorrow’s Energy’.

With the current low global oil prices and the associated future challenges that the industry will confront, limited opportunities will arise to bring together a wide range of technical expertise, and to empower our professionals to meet these challenges head-on. GEO 2016 will provide such a unique opportunity and will be an important source of knowledge-sharing, new technology developments coupled with extensive networking opportunities.

The Technical Program Committee received a record number of abstracts — 624 — submitted for both oral and poster presentations. The final technical programme will include 220 oral presentations and more than 150 posters. In addition to the technical programme, the conference will host five panel sessions focusing on key industry topics such as: Long Term Strategies Through Unpredictable Markets, IT Emerging Trends, Integrated Technologies for Better Performance, Unconventional Resources of the Middle East and Industry-Academia Engagement and Collaboration, which will surely provide wide opportunities for the attendees to engage in open dialogue with the panelists and industry experts.

For the first time in GEO’s history, a special session will be led by the leading female professionals under the title, ‘Women’s Growing Role in the Energy Industry’.

GEO 2016 will be attended by decision makers, senior executives and top notch scientists and engineers from across the industry providing international networking and educational opportunities that will enrich our career and professional development.

To encourage and engage student and young professional geoscientists and to provide them with technical and professional career development, GEO 2016 has once again incorporated an interesting programme that includes soft skills and technical courses, a meet n’ greet session, core workshops and social activities.

Inaugurated in 1994, the GEO exhibition is the premier showcase of oil and gas exploration technology in the Middle East, attracting NOCs, IOCs and major operating companies.
