Bringing together both knowledge and resources through international collaboration is critical for the development of oil and gas industry, said world representatives at a recent gathering in Abu Dhabi for members of Middle East Petroleum Club (MEPC)
The MEPC provides a platform for top-level industry professionals to strengthen existing connections and forge new ones in a discreet and private environment at ADIPEC, and a range of events throughout the year.
At the MEPC ‘Al Multaqa’ event, guests were given an exclusive preview of the key issues that will be addressed at this year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) from 9-12 November.
Al Multaqa invites representatives from both existing and prospective ADIPEC participating countries to gain insight about the knowledge-exchange and business opportunities available at what is now considered a flagship event for the global energy sector.
Norway, Europe’s largest oil producer, will be participating in the energy event once again with a dedicated country pavilion, where more than 17 Norwegian companies will be present. This marks the 10th year that Norway has had a presence at ADIPEC.
Per Øystein Vatne, Chargé d’affaires at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, said, “Research and development is a critical asset for the oil and gas industry, and today there is an increased focus on advancing the energy sector with consideration to the health and safety of our community and the environment.
“As a global meeting place and a forum for dialogue that has the power to shape the future of the industry, ADIPEC provides us an excellent platform to showcase to the world what we have achieved in Norway, connect with important players in this region, and explore all things sustainable in the energy sector.”
Also in attendance at the gathering was Kaiser Araujo representing the Embassy of Brazil. According to a recent Research and Markets report, Brazil is expected to be the world’s second leading emerging nation in the oil and gas industry after China in 2018, valued at US$157.8bn.
“We have many oil reserves and major fields under development, many of which are off the coast and in very deep waters, so global industry events like ADIPEC can help us attract the right investors and partnerships to develop those areas,” said Araujo. “While we produce our oil domestically, we still export it for processing, so we can also use this opportunity to acquire knowledge that will help us further advance our refining capacity.”
“We have more than three decades of experience extracting from offshore reserves using the most sophisticated technology, so in addition to using the event as a channel for learning and relationship building, our companies also have plenty of expertise to share,” Araujo added.
Hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and organised by dmg events, ADIPEC 2015 will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and is expected to host more than 85,000 attendees, 7,000 delegates, and 2,000 exhibitors from more than 120 countries. The event will welcome 23 international pavilions this year, including major oil producing countries USA, China, and Canada.
