Scotland-based energy services company Wood Group has been awarded a six-year offshore maintain potential programme contract by Saudi Aramco
The contract covers greenfield and brownfield engineering services, procurement and construction management support for new facilities in the Gulf. It also includes the option for two three-year renewals and the establishment of an offshore centre of excellence for engineering in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
Some of the work will be done in the USA by Wood Group Mustang and the services in Saudi Arabia will be executed by Mustang-HDP, Saudi Arabian joint venture of the company, and is expected to employ up to 300 people.
Michele McNichol, CEO of Wood Group Mustang, said, “The company is looking forward to helping Saudi Aramco to implement its offshore production strategies and to developing the centre of excellence in Al Khobar. The centre will help to establish offshore engineering capabilities in Saudi Arabia by transferring Wood Group Mustang’s record-setting experience, strong technical and project management resources, and flexible, innovative approach.”
Mustang-HDP has been providing engineering services to Saudi Aramco under a general engineering services contract since 2011, which creates a long-term framework for the supply of engineering, procurement and construction management services to support the execution of onshore and offshore oil and gas projects within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Financial details of the new contract have not yet been provided by the company.
