It operates in 10 segments — information and telecommunication systems, social infrastructure and industrial systems, high functional materials and components, electronic systems and equipment, automotive systems, digital media and consumer products, power systems, construction machinery, financial services and logistics.


US-based IBM is one of the largest vendors in the global big data services market. The company offers various types of hardware, software, consulting and infrastructure services.


Oracle operates in three business segments — software, hardware systems and services. The software segment offers new software licenses and updates, cloud software subscriptions, product support and other software solutions built on standards-based architecture that supports a wide variety of operating systems including Oracle Solaris, Oracle Linux and Microsoft Windows.


Cloudera is a US-based software company that provides Apache Hadoop-based software, support and services and training to business customers.


EMC offers data storage, information security, virtualisation, analytics, cloud computing and other products and services that enable businesses to manage and protect data. The US-based company also offers products and services designed to allow oil and gas companies to move to a cloud computing model and to analyse big data.

MapR Technologies

MapR Technologies is a software company that develops and sells Apache Hadoop-derived software.

“Enterprises, large and small, are using Hadoop to store, manage, and analyse large amounts of data and gain a better understanding of their businesses, products and customers,” added the report.


Germany-based SAP is a provider of enterprise software and software-related services globally. The company also offers its Upstream Operations Management system, which quickly identifies under-performing oilwell and the underlying causes so that companies could develop action plans to get back on track, noted the report.
