Samsung Engineering has been awarded a US$840mn contract for a new de-gassing station facility on the Zubair oilfield in Iraq
Italy’s Eni, who awarded the contract, said that the North (Hammar Mishrif) new degassing station is a part of the larger Zubair oilfield development project, which, once completed, will produce 200,000 bpd.
The oilfield is located near Basra and the project is expected to be complete in 2016.
Samsung Engineering will carry out engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning on a lump-sum turnkey basis to build an oil and gas separation plant.
Eni is the operator of the development holding a 32.8 per cent interest, while Occidental Petroleum holds 23.4 per cent, Korea Gas holds 18.8 per cent and Iraq’s state-run Missan Oil holds 25 per cent.
Park Choong-Heum, CEO of Samsung Engineering, said, “This contract award is a direct result of proven project execution capabilities and commitment to the Iraqi market since 2012.”
