McDermott International has been awarded an engineering, procurement, installation and construction (EPIC) contract in the Gulf for an undisclosed amount

The engineering and fabrication for this project will be done by McDermott International at the Jebel Ali facility in Dubai.

Transportation and installation work will be carried out by vessels belonging to the company’s global marine fleet, the company said.

The contract includes engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of four new offshore topsides facilities, modification of two existing production facilities to extend the current deck space and maximise the size of modules.

The project also includes the installation of a 12-inch subsea pipeline approximately 15km in length. Water depths range between 10 metres and 14 metres, added the company.

The combined total weight of the structures will exceed 3,500 metric tonnes, the company said.

David Dickson, CEO of McDermott International, said, “The project is part of a plan to boost oil production from existing fields, by the implementation of gas injection technology, and the installation of new production wells. Our ability to provide sound technical solutions in both brownfield and greenfield scopes supported by our regional capabilities in providing fabrication, marine and manpower resources has helped us secure this award.”

Offshore operations are expected to begin in Q4 2014. Project completion, including hook-up and commissioning, is planned for Q1 2015.
