LiqTech wins deal to supply water membrane system in Middle East

Technology

US-based LiqTech International has won a deal worth US$275,000 to supply an oil and gas produced water membrane system in the Middle East

Senior officials at LiqTech confirmed that the SiC membrane technology could be utilised for various upstream-produced water applications across the Middle East.

Finn Helmer, CEO of LiqTech, said, "We are actively pursuing opportunities in the field of produced water treatment within the oil and gas industry. We are currently engaged with many energy projects primarily in Europe, the Americas and China, and this order adds to our presence in the Middle East."

According to Helmer, there is a growing demand for higher quality re-injection water across the globe. There are a large number of tightening discharge legislations, increasing water cuts- which means there is more water produced per barrel of oil. In addition, the introduction of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques adds to the existing demand for re-injection. LiqTech has been able to overcome these challenges in the past.
