Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has announced that it will conduct 2D seismic survey operations in the country’s marine zones in mid-September
A statement by the company said that the seismic survey will cover around 7,000km in length and form the beginning of operations to discover offshore oil and natural gas.
KOC also revealed that it is planning a 3D seismic survey which will include areas in Kuwait Bay and the capital city. The 3D survey will cover an area of 3,500 sq km.
KOC signed a US$29.5mn deal with an international company in April 2012 to conduct a 2D seismic survey of all marine zones within three years. The seismic survey operation is KOC's first in 30 years.
