GE Oil & Gas has signed an MoU with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to collaborate in research and development (R&D), develop cost-effective solutions for the energy sector and provide specialised training programmes for engineers to strengthen Kuwaiti talent
The signing ceremony took place on the eve of the 16th GE Oil & Gas Annual Meeting in Florence, Italy.
Rafael Santana, CEO of Turbomachinery Solutions, signed the MoU with KOC CEO Hashem Hashem. GE chairman Jeff Immelt and GE Oil & Gas CEO Lorenzo Simonelli were also present along with Nizar Al-Adsani, CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
Santana said, “This agreement underlines our commitment to working in true partnership to promote the development of local human capital including technical skills of young engineers.”
Hashem added that for the initiative, KOC had approached GE Oil & Gas to achieve a collaborative partnership that was in line with Kuwait International Petroleum Research Center’s (KIPRC) collaboration strategy.
“The parties, KOC and GE Oil & Gas, shall together promote cooperation in R&D and technology innovations, education and training and the development of KOC employees,” he added.
