Oil Review Middle East spoke to Vincent Scandria, CEO and co-founder of Metron, at Intersec Middle East in January

How does Metron's AI platform set it apart from competition?

Metron has a unique platform combining ontology and data science. Our huge database of knowledge is the principal strength of the company.

It brings together human expertise with an understanding of the matrix of risk. I would like to compare it to a smart phone equipped with an understanding of the needs of industries.

We work in conjunction with big companies as well as independently. Metron has been recently awarded the 2020 Global Cleantech 100, a prestigious annual guide to leading companies and trends in sustainable innovation and has signed an agreement with the Danone Food and Beverage company to deploy its platform technology worldwide.

How is Metron offering solutions tailored to the needs of the region?

The Middle East is open to technology innovation and interested to adopt latest offerings. We offer solutions across a range of industries including iron and steel, food and beverage, cement companies and mining corporations. We help with the implementation of our product in the factory and also make use of third part support.

In alignment with global goals, the region is actively pursuing sustainable development initiatives. We believe that the AI technology will be truly beneficial for factories in the region in optimising their focus on sustainability and cost saving.

Can you tell us about the Energy virtual assistant providing the connect between human and AI benefits?

It provides insights and analysis to understand and leverage energy consumption to help customers, operators and energy managers make decisions.

By predicting and forecasting situations and making the analysis actionable in terms of saving, Metron's virtual assistant helps industries maximise energy efficiency.

It is like having the expertise of several engineers to provide state-of the-art technology.

What are the plans for expansion this year?

We will be hiring more people this year, in fact doubling the number of employees. In 2020, we will invest massively in the development of the company.

We have plans for expansion in the region and to increase daily support with the regional centre, to benefit our customers.
