US-based Emerson Process Management (EPM) has launched a new skills training programme for employees of the Kuwait Oil Company
Known as ‘Workforce Effectiveness’, the training programme will run for 19 weeks and will be conducted at the EPM’s bases in Austin, Texas, and in Marshalltown, Iowa.
EPM supplies process automation services and technologies to industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, marine, food and beverages and water management, across the globe. It has developed brands such as CSI Technologies, DeltaV Digital Automation System and Tescom.
Earlier this year, EPM secured a contract from the Kuwait Oil Company to develop a training programme for its engineers at the production facility. The Ahmadi-based oil company is the world’s fourth largest exporter of oil, according to company sources.
EPM’s training programme for the oil company’s employees would cover aspects of field instrumentation, the DeltaV automation system, cyber security and process control strategies.
EPM director of educational services, Dorothy Hellberg, said, “We are seeing more customers engage in a broad course of training for their newer employees. As companies expand their engineering staff, condensed training programmes are critical to smooth project execution and continuing operations. Our services can easily be configured to meet those needs.”
The training project has been developed by EPM’s Lifecycle Care and Educational Services. Eight EPM business units and five complementary instrumentation companies are part of the overall training programme, the company said.
