Daewoo Engineering & Construction (E&C) has announced that it has been awarded a US$647mn order to build petroleum treatment facilities in Algeria by Sonatrach First Calgary Petroleums Limited
The project — the CAFC Oil Project — is likely to take around three years to complete and the South Korean company will be in charge of engineering, procurement and construction in building a central oil processing unit and additional facilities with a capacity of 32,000 bpd day.
The petroleum unit will be located in the Berkine region in southeast Algeria.
Daewoo E&C entered the Algerian market in 1989 with the building of the Algerian Hilton Hotel. Since then it has obtained a total of nine orders of a combined worth of around US$4bn in the North African country.
