China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) has signed a deal worth US$330mn with Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations (ADCO) to develop infrastructure for the company’s Mender oilfield
CPECC, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, will build oil gathering stations, pipelines, power transmission lines and sewage systems in the Mender oilfield.
Mender, situated in the southeast of UAE, can produce 20,000 barrels per day (bpd). It is part of a larger South East Field Development Project, which includes other oilfields such as Shahil and Qusawahira. Together, the three oilfields can boost ADCO’s crude production from 1.6mn barrels per day (mbpd) to 1.8 mbpd by 2017.
In 2014, the China National Petroleum Corporation secured rights to produce and export oil from Abu Dhabi, stated a Reuters report.
