UK-based Element Materials Technology (Element), a provider in testing, inspection and certification services, has been selected as an approved supplier for Saudi Aramco, petroleum and natural gas company
The Element Milan laboratory has been approved to perform hydrogen induced corrosion (HIC) testing for the global conglomerate and all of its supply chain partners.
The Milan facility joins Element’s four other laboratories in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Amsterdam (Europe), Dudley (UK) and Houston (USA) that are approved by Saudi Aramco to perform HIC testing.
Matt Hopkinson, EVP for oil and gas and Infrastructure, commented, “We are extremely proud of this achievement. As the biggest global company operating in the oil and gas sector, Saudi Aramco demands the highest level of expertise from its testing partners,”
“With more than 100 years’ experience in the sector, Element has a proven track record in consistently delivering on-time, accurate test results and helping to minimise risk for its clients,” he added.
“The fact that five out of the nine laboratories in the world approved to conduct HIC testing for Saudi Aramco are part of Element is very telling of our position as a leading provider of oil & gas testing services,” he stated.
The Element Milan laboratory specialises in a wide range of testing services including: routine mechanical testing, fracture mechanics; corrosion; fitness for service (FFS); finite element modelling (FEM) analysis; remnant life assessments (RLA); engineering critical assessments (ECA); failure analysis; creep testing; chemical analysis; and cryogenic testing (in liquid helium).
In addition to standard pitting and crevice corrosion tests, experts at Element Milan also perform corrosion tests for sour service, including HIC and SSC. The facility is one of the few laboratories that can perform fracture mechanics testing (SENB, SENT, CT) and fatigue testing in sour service environments.
