Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) has received technical bids for several packages at the upcoming Liwa Plastics Project

Bidding is underway for four EPC bid packages at Orpic’s Liwa Plastics Industries Complex, which comprises a polymers plant in Sohar industrial area, an NGL extraction plant in Fahud, a steam cracker plant as well as a 300 km-long pipeline from Fahud to Sohar.

Orpic CEO Musab Al Mahruqi said, “It is positive to see so many strong technical bids submitted from several notable proponents and joint venture partners. This project will be one of the largest in the region, and we expect to be making a significant impact on the local economy through EPC works alone.”

In addition to the four bids, few more are expected to come onboard by mid-August, stated Orpic.

The Omani company is hoping to raise US$4bn for the project, and aims to sign financing agreements when the EPC contracts get signed, it added.

Orpic is on track to conclude evaluation of bids for all the packages by early October 2015, with the final investment decision to be taken by the end of October 2015. Once bids are submitted for the remaining two packages, they will be evaluated in October 2015 and awarded soon after.
