CCJV, a joint venture between Chiyoda and Thailand’s CTCI, has awarded Nexans to provide power and instrumentation cable for the construction of Laffan Refinery 2 (LR2) at Doha in Qatar
Chiyoda and Thailand’s CTCI had been jointly awarded the contract for engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning of LR2 project by Qatargas in 2013.
The refinery is expected to have a condensate processing capacity of 146,000 barrels per stream day (bpsd).

With our QICC footprint, Nexans is well positioned to deliver innovative, competitive cable products for Qatar’s oil and gas projects.”
For LR2 project, Nexans QICC will design and manufacture 1,000km about of low and medium voltage, power and earthing cables, while Nexans France will provide the instrumentation cables and fibre optic cables.
Construction of the refinery began in December 2013, and it is expected to be completed in Q3 2016.
In 2013, Nexans had also provided 1,000km of medium and low voltage cables for the Barzan gas processing project.
