Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company (ChemaWEyaat) has awarded Foster Wheeler a project management consultancy (PMC) services contract for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase of its aromatics complex in Al Gharbia, Abu Dhabi

The aromatics complex at the Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia site, east of the Ruwais Industrial Complex in the Emirate, will process 3 million tonnes/year of heavy naphtha from the 350,000 bpd Takreer Ruwais refinery to produce paraxylene, mixed xylenes and benzene.

The deal is part of the first stage of the country’s Tacaamol chemicals integration project and will be fed by pipeline from the Takreer Ruwais Refinery.

Foster Wheeler said the contract, awarded to its Global Engineering and Construction Group, provides an option to provide PMC services for the engineering, procurement and construction phase of the aromatics project.

The contract value was not disclosed.

ChemaWEyaat was established in 2008 to enhance the involvement of the country’s domestic chemicals industry.
