Schlumberger unveils oilfield technologies for the Middle East

US-based oilfield services company Schlumberger has introduced two new technologies that will help oil and gas firms discover untapped hydrocarbon resources in the Middle East

According to the company, the two technologies are UniQ Systems and MicroScope Services. These technologies will assist oil and gas companies to discover untapped hydrocarbon resources and enhance productivity from existing reservoirs, added Schlumberger.

A company official said that UniQ Systems has been designed to optimise productivity and minimise technical downtime. “It offers drastically better seismic imaging through better noise handling and resolution. The unique platform is designed as an open-architecture system with a proven capacity in excess of 200,000 channels and forms an auto-correcting, fault-tolerant layout that maximises uptime and therefore reduces overall field survey duration,” Schlumberger noted.

MicroScope Services will provide the energy industry with high-resolution resistivity and imaging while drilling for formation evaluation, well placement and fracture identification, added the official.
