NetApp delivers solution for data backup on the cloud

US-based IT solutions provider NetApp has launched new softwares to improve data backup and recovery times on both private and public cloud environments

Three new models of cloud-native backup solution SteelStore provide an efficient and secure approach to backup cloud-based workload.

SteelStore enables customers to securely store data in the cloud at up to 90 per cent lower cost than traditional storage methods and supports 95 per cent of all cloud providers.

Phil Brotherton, vice-president of Cloud Solutions Group at NetApp, said, “Every customer has a unique set of IT requirements when it comes to supporting business growth. To support growth, organisations want the ability to use the cloud on their terms. NetApp is investing in a data fabric architecture and framework to make hybrid IT simpler, faster and more secure. Our newest backup and archive solutions help customers take advantage of hybrid deployments to gain flexibility and reduce cost.”

According to the company, its new software solutions come with integration for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

“The launch of new software solutions is a part of a series of rollouts intended to make it easier for customers to run NetApp storage in a public cloud, particularly on AWS. NetApp’s new data life cycle solutions give customers confidence that no matter where their data lives they can control, integrate, move, secure and consistently manage it,” added Brotherton.
