Egyptian university to benefit from software donation

CGGVeritas has donated its Hampson-Russell software suite, encompassing all aspects of seismic exploration and reservoir characterization, from AVO analysis and inversion to 4D and multicomponent interpretation, to the British University in Egypt (BUE).

This software donation is seen as the first step of a fruitful cooperation between CGGVeritas and the BUE department of Engineering, Petroleum and Gas Technology in Cairo. CGGVeritas will also provide training to maximize the benefit of a dedicated Hampson-Russell Laboratory established for the benefit of the BUE faculty and students.

This new facility will give the BUE a competitive edge in the field of geoscience education while allowing CGGVeritas to develop close ties with the BUE students interested in pursuing a career in the petroleum industry. CGGVeritas already takes students from various universities in Egypt for summer training and supervises a number of graduate projects in Cairo each year.

Hampson-Russell Software & Services has been donating its geophysical software for research and training purposes since 1987 and over 120 universities and colleges now participate worldwide.
