BATS Wireless’ data sharing tool to aid shale operators

Software and hardware solution provider BATS Wireless has developed data communication technology that aims to solve the connectivity issues in the shale industry

According to the company, its stabilised microwave solution will allow fast communication and data sharing from the well sites and operators at separate locations to improve data analysis and operational efficiencies.

The new technology can be integrated with almost any radio to form a high-speed, high-capacity network that can offer up to multi-gigabit connectivity speeds, added BATS Wireless.

Phillip Cramer, vice-president of sales and marketing at BATS Wireless, said, “The stabilised microwave solution will enhance operations by allowing the energy companies to visualise the well development and production, whilst making real-time operational adjustments to optimise the efficiencies of drilling.

“The solution will also offer shale operators the best available technology to not only streamline critical data communications between key operations officials, but also help project leaders evaluate seismic data and mitigate risk during high-stakes drilling operations.”

The stabilised microwave solution will provide real-time data that will improve processes from the exploratory stages to commercial extraction processes with efficiency, noted Cramer.
