Total awarded fuel distribution license in Jordan

The Jordanian government has awarded Frances Total and Jordans Manaseer Group licenses for fuel distribution in the country

Total announced that it had acquired a 10-year petroleum product distribution license in Jordan that would allow its marketing and services subsidiary, Total Jordan, to cement its position in the country and increase its retail network throughput.

Total and Manaseer have become the country's first private sector fuel suppliers — until now Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company has been the country's sole distributor.

Under the license, Total Jordan will have the right to supply more than 120 service stations, over and above its 23 company owned and company operated service stations, which will represent a retail network market share of 33 per cent.

Total said in a press release that acquiring the license will also enable it to step up its expansion in general trade activities, through gaining the opportunity to contract with industrial customers, and in the lubricants market. It will also enable Total Jordan to penetrate the aviation fuel market.

“We have taken a major step forward in capturing growth opportunities and consolidating the development of the Total brand in Jordan,” commented Mehmet Celepoglu, managing director of Total Jordan.
