Tenaris inaugurates Saudi plant

Tenaris recently inaugurated its first plant in Saudi Arabia, Tenaris Saudi Arabia Ltd., in the presence of Saudi Aramco executives and members of local authorities.

The plant, located in the 2nd Industrial City of Dammam, in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has the capacity to produce 35,000 tonnes of OCTG pipes from 5 ½" to 13 3/8" in accordance with API 5CT and Saudi Aramco's standards.

It will be dedicated to manufacturing the latest TenarisHydril premium connection technology and proprietary steel grades, according to Saudi Aramco's requirements. Nearly 120 people are employed at the plant, 50 of whom are Saudi nationals.

Paolo Rocca, Chairman and CEO of Tenaris, in his address to the ceremony, said, "From our location in Dammam, we are better prepared to provide quality, state-of-the-art products while reducing response times. We have an excellent team and are ready to support continuous growth throughout the country."

Khalid Al Shoaibi, Chairman of Tenaris Saudi Arabia Ltd and of General Technologies & Systems Co. Ltd. (Gentas), said, "This new world class plant will enhance our partnership with Saudi Aramco and continue our investment in the Kingdom."

Tenaris has served the Saudi Arabian oil and gas industry since the early 1990s, supplying high quality OCTG and line pipe products . With this new investment, Tenaris has strengthened its commitment to serving the needs of Saudi Aramco and other local customers in their increasingly complex onshore and offshore oil and gas operations.

Tenaris Saudi Arabia Ltd. is a joint venture between General Technology and Systems Co. Ltd. GENTAS) and Tenaris Global Services Ltd.
