Petrosys plans to grow Middle East business with new office

Software solutions provider Petrosys is looking to expand its business in the Middle East and has plans to open an office in the region this year

Petrosys, which provides mapping, surface modelling and data management software solutions to the oil and gas sector, already has offices around the globe and its business in the Middle East is currently run from its Malaysian office in Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking to Oil Review Mike Brumby, Petrosys company director and sales manager for the Middle East and Asia Pacific, said, “Our current plan is to try to open an office sometime this year.”

Brumby went on to say that the office, which is likely to be based in the UAE, would act as a support and sales base for its Middle Eastern clients and the final date of its creation would ultimately depend on contracts and procurement.

“We have a very strong presence in Australia, we have a strong presence in Canada, the US, Europe, and Asia, so it makes sense to try and grow in the Middle East,” he explained.

Petrosys has counted Saudi Aramco as a client for 10-15 years and, as well as a number of smaller clients, is looking to Abu Dhabi’s major oil and gas companies, such as ADCO and ADNOC, for potential business.

Brumby explained that over the last two years the company has carried out what he describes as “extensive marketing visits” and found that the UAE, and Abu Dhabi in particular, was a key area to develop its software, but has not ruled out the other gulf nations.

“The focus here is primarily on the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman,” he commented. “We have a couple of clients in Oman and we’d like to go further there.”

Founded in 1984 and based in Adelaide, South Australia, Petrosys helps clients by managing, editing and analysing specialised seismic and geoscience data in order to get the most from their search for oil and gas. Geoscientists, data managers and engineers at more than 300 sites worldwide are using Petrosys’ services for basin and field interpretation.
