Deloitte has revealed that oil and gas experts will have to face up to a looming talent shortage in all skill categories, according to its latest report
The report, Talent Edge 2020: Redrafting talent strategies for the uneven recovery, indicated that discovering global talent and retention programmes have become top concerns for Middle East oil and gas companies.
"We are witnessing a growing trend of oil and gas companies expanding into global and new markets as a top strategic priority," commented Deloitte Middle East human capital consultant Ghassan Turqieh.
"Moreover, talent management is no longer confined to the company's country of operation; rather the search has gone global, to find skilled and critical talent," he added.
According to surveyed executives, the shortages have proven critical in operations (81 per cent), information technology (61 per cent), risk and regulatory (62 per cent) and research and development (60 per cent).
The Deloitte report stated that talent shortage would continue to be a concern for industry in the coming years. With global mobility increasing in importance, deploying talent around the world would be a higher priority in three years than it is today.
