Libya has announced plans to build two new oil refineries in Tubruq and Ubari, according to government sources

Prime Minister Ali Zeidan said that his Cabinet has approved the two oil refinery projects. Tubruq will have a capacity of 300,000 bpd and will be expected to meet most of the fuel and other refined goods needs of eastern Libya.

Ubari’s refinery would be smaller and will be expected to have a capacity of 50,000 bpd. It will attempt to meet the needs of less populated areas in southern Libya, Zeidan said.

Last month, Repsol and its partners OMVand Total had announced oil discovery in the Murzuq Basin onshore the North African country.
