Dubai-based Drydocks World announced today that it has completed a major repair and refurbishment project on the National Drilling Company’s (NDC) jack-up drilling rig, Al Ittihad

In carrying out the commissioned repair package on NDC’s 61.87m x 51.21m jack-up rig, Drydocks World used almost 125 mt of steel in renewing the inside of the structure’s tanks.

Chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim said, “The yard has drawn on its internal engineering resources and other specialised capabilities to deliver the milestones on this project. We are grateful for NDC for their continued faith in our services.”

Additionally Drydocks World, a global service provider to the marine and maritime industries, designed and installed a securing system for the rig floor, as well as carrying out numerous other updates, such as replacing air compressors and pipes for barite tanks, re-routing flaring lines, and renewing a 50m cement line.

The Dubai rig refurbishment shipyard has a long-running partnership with NDC, having worked on more than 10 orders for the drilling company in previous years.

“This is yet another achievement as we continue to pursue our strategy and action plans towards becoming the yard of choice for the offshore industry in this region and around the world,” commented H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim.
